Robert Schumann’s Three Fantasy Pieces, Op. 111 were composed in 1851, following the Schumanns’ move to the Rhine. Clara Schumann described the three piano pieces in her diary as works of a serious and passionate character. The collection has an affinity with Schumann’s earlier Romances, Op. 28, but reflects the more mature and concentrated style of his later piano music. Henle’s revised edition includes an informative preface and carefully prepared Urtext.
